Direct answerBrighton, CO

Painter Hotline repairs drywall in Brighton, Colorado homes as part of interior painting or as a stand-alone job. We fix nail pops, cracks at window and door corners, failed tape seams, dents and holes, and ceiling stains from old leaks, then rebuild the knockdown or orange-peel texture, prime the patch and paint the full wall so the color is even. If a stain or crack points to an active leak or a structural problem, we will say so and recommend the right trade first. Call 720-208-5645.

Why patches show through paint

A repair can be perfectly flat and still be obvious. There are two reasons. First, joint compound is smooth while the wall around it is textured, so light catches the patch from the side. Second, raw compound soaks up paint differently from painted drywall, so a patch painted without primer dries with a different sheen, a problem painters call flashing.

So every repair gets the texture rebuilt to match, a coat of primer, and then paint across the whole wall, corner to corner, rather than a dab over the patch.

Matching Brighton textures

Newer homes around Brighton almost all have sprayed texture. The two common ones are orange peel, a fine bumpy spray, and knockdown, larger splatters flattened with a blade. Older homes near downtown may have hand textures or smooth plaster, which takes a different approach. We test the texture on a scrap board or an out-of-sight spot before working on a wall you look at every day.

When it is not just drywall

Some damage is a symptom. A ceiling stain that keeps growing means there is still a leak. Cracks that keep coming back wider, doors that start sticking, or gaps opening at the floor can point to foundation movement. Painting over those only hides them for a while. We will tell you what we see and suggest a roofer, plumber or structural engineer before we do any cosmetic repair.

Questions

Drywall repair questions

Do you do drywall repair without painting a whole room?

We can, but the repaired wall still needs paint from corner to corner, or the patch will show. On a small job that usually means one wall rather than the room.

Can you match my wall texture?

Yes. Orange peel and knockdown are the most common around Brighton, and we test the match before working on the wall itself.

Why do I have nail pops in a newer house?

Framing lumber dries and shifts during the first years after a house is built, and that pushes nail heads out. It is common and easy to fix once the house has settled.

Will a ceiling water stain come back after painting?

Not if the leak is fixed and the stain is sealed with a stain-blocking primer first. Ordinary paint lets water stains bleed back through.

Should I worry about a crack over my door?

A thin crack from the corner of a door or window is usually normal movement. If it keeps widening or the door starts to stick, have the structure checked before cosmetic repair.

Homes built before 1978 need lead-safe preparation; new builds have their own issues.
How would you like your free estimate?

Both are free and the choice is yours. Older homes, rot and color matching often go better in person; straightforward rooms are usually quicker from photos.
