Five years, with the exclusions printed.
Anyone can say they stand behind their work. Here is exactly what that sentence means when we say it, including what it does not cover.

Painter Hotline provides a written 5-year workmanship warranty. It applies when paint peels, flakes, blisters or releases because of how we prepared or applied it. It excludes ultraviolet fading, new hail or storm damage, water arriving from a gutter, sprinkler or failed flashing, failing substrate, and conditions we recorded on the estimate that were not repaired. Claim inspection is free and covered failures are corrected at no cost.
The exclusions, first
Most warranty pages lead with coverage and bury the limits. The limits are where every disappointment starts, so here they are up front.
Not covered
- Fading and chalking over time. Ultraviolet breaks pigment down. That is chemistry and nobody warrants against it. What we do instead is specify better product on the south and west, where the load is worst.
- Hail and storm damage. This matters more here than most places. New hail after we paint is an insurance matter, not a workmanship failure, and we will document it for your claim.
- Water we did not put there. Overflowing gutters onto fascia, sprinklers hitting siding, flashing that failed years ago. No coating survives any of those.
- Substrate that was already going. If the board underneath a sound coating is rotting or swollen, the board is the problem.
- Conditions we flagged that were not fixed. If we counted nine failed siding boards, wrote them on the estimate, and you asked us to paint around them, those sit outside coverage. We will still do the work and the note stays on the paperwork.
Covered
- Paint peeling, flaking, blistering or releasing because of how we prepared the surface.
- Coating failure where priming was ours to do and was inadequate.
- Adhesion failure on surfaces we washed, scraped, primed and coated.
- Runs, sags, thin spots and anything we missed, which we would far rather you catch at the walkthrough.
Five years, in writing, on every project including commercial and agricultural work.
Making a claim
Call the number you booked on. Send a photo if you can get one. We come out and look for free, and if the failure traces to our preparation or application we put it right at no cost to you.
If it traces to something else, you hear that instead, with an explanation. Occasionally the honest answer is that the problem is a gutter, and that is still worth the visit because now you know what to fix.
Two warranties, doing different jobs
Ours covers workmanship, meaning preparation and application. Sherwin-Williams or PPG warrant the product itself, separately. Keep your estimate and invoice: together they record the exact product line and the date, which is what a manufacturer claim needs.
Three things that keep it valid
Point sprinklers away from the walls. Keep gutters clear so water is not running down the fascia all winter. And call when you first notice something rather than after it has crossed an elevation, because a small repair stays small.
Warranty questions
What does the 5-year warranty cover?
How we prepared the surface and how we applied the coating. If paint releases, peels, flakes or blisters because of either, we return and correct it at no cost to you.
Is hail damage covered by the warranty?
No. New hail after we paint is storm damage rather than a workmanship failure, and it is an insurance matter. We will document it by elevation for your claim.
Why is fading excluded?
Because ultraviolet breaks pigment down over years and no painter can warrant against chemistry. What we can do is put higher-grade product on the south and west, where the load is worst.
What if the problem turns out to be a gutter?
You will hear that, with an explanation of what we are seeing. It is outside the warranty, and the visit is still worth having because now you know what actually needs fixing.
Does commercial work carry the same coverage?
Yes. Commercial, agricultural and HOA projects carry the identical written 5-year workmanship warranty.
Is the warranty transferable?
Raise it with us before you close on a sale. We handle transfers case by case and having it documented is useful at closing.
