Two kinds of interior here
Brighton has split into two housing stocks and they want different work.
The older core, roughly downtown out to Bridge Street, is pre-1978 in large part: plaster or early drywall, original trim, and lead-safe requirements on anything that disturbs painted surfaces. Preparation dominates these jobs.
The newer subdivisions east and north are drywall with sprayed texture and builder-grade finishes. Preparation is faster, but the existing paint is usually thin, flat and burnished where anyone has tried to wipe it, which affects how a second coat behaves.
A bid that treats those two as the same project has not looked at your house.
Builder-grade walls behave oddly
Production builders apply a single thin coat of flat paint, often tinted into a cheap base. Three things follow that surprise people:
- It burnishes. Wipe a scuff and you get a shiny patch that will not go away.
- It is porous. A new color soaks in unevenly and sometimes needs an extra coat to look right.
- Touch-up never matches, even with the original can, because the surface has changed.
None of that is a defect you can claim on. It is what the budget bought. Repainting properly in a quality eggshell is the fix, and it is usually the single biggest visual upgrade available in a new house.
Texture matching
Most Brighton interiors are sprayed knockdown or orange peel. Matching it on a repair is routine work and skipping it leaves a flat patch visible under every lamp in the room for the rest of the house's life.
Sheen by room
| Room | Sheen | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Ceilings | Flat | Sprayed texture plus raking light shows everything; flat absorbs it |
| Living areas, bedrooms | Eggshell | Soft finish that still wipes clean, and it does not burnish |
| Kitchens, baths, laundry | Satin | Steam, grease and scrubbing |
| Halls and stairwells | Satin | The highest-contact walls in any house |
| Trim, doors, railings | Semi-gloss | Takes daily contact and washes clean |
| Basements | Satin | Below-grade humidity |
Winter is the open calendar
Our exterior season on the plains runs roughly mid-May to early October. Interiors do not care what the overnight low is. From November through March the schedule has real room and you are not competing with every homeowner in Adams County for the same July week.

How much does interior painting cost in Brighton?
Published 2026 Front Range data puts interior painting at roughly $1.50 to $3.50 per square foot, and most homes are quoted by room. Ceiling height, patching and texture matching, and trim and door counts move the number more than floor area alone.
Why does my new house need repainting already?
Production builders apply one thin coat of flat paint. It burnishes when wiped, soaks up a new color unevenly, and never touches up to match. That is what the budget bought rather than a defect, and repainting in a quality eggshell is the usual fix.
Can you match my wall texture?
Yes. Most Brighton interiors are sprayed knockdown or orange peel and matching on a repair is routine. Skipping it leaves a flat patch visible under every lamp permanently.
Do you paint in winter?
Yes, and we would encourage it. Interior work happens inside a heated house, so outdoor conditions are irrelevant and November through March has far more availability.
My house is older. Does that change things?
If it predates 1978, yes. Federal EPA rules require certified firms plus containment, defined work practices and verified cleanup when painted surfaces are disturbed. Much of Brighton's older core falls into that.
Will you move furniture?
We move and protect larger pieces. Clearing small items, electronics and artwork beforehand speeds the work and can reduce the cost.
