A town that takes the weather head-on

Fort Morgan sits at about 4,318 feet on the South Platte, with a semi-arid climate: roughly 14 inches of precipitation a year, about 23 inches of snow, and recorded extremes from −41°F to 109°F. Paint on a house here does not fail from rain. It fails from sun and movement. South and west walls chalk early, and caulk joints at corners and trim open after a few winters of hard freezing and hot afternoons.

That shapes how we price and prep. We wash off the chalk instead of painting over it, cut out failed caulk rather than smearing new over old, and put two full coats on the sun-facing walls. Our builder-grade paint guide explains the chalk test you can do yourself.

Older houses near downtown

The town was platted in 1884 and incorporated in 1887, and the blocks around Main Street carry houses from much of the town’s history. Older wood siding and trim under many coats needs scraping back to a sound edge and priming before color. Anything built before 1978 may have lead paint: Colorado’s Regulation 19 requires the EPA Renovate Right pamphlet at least seven days before work that disturbs 2 square feet or more of painted surface, and federal lead-safe practices apply. We ask the year built on every estimate.

Farm, shop and commercial buildings

Morgan County is farm and ranch country, and the buildings that come with it are part of what we paint: steel shops and pole barns, older wood outbuildings, and storefronts and small commercial buildings in town. Metal gets rust taken back mechanically and a metal primer; wood gets the same scrape-and-prime as a house. See our barn and outbuilding page and commercial and agricultural painting.

How a Fort Morgan job is scheduled

  1. Photos first. Each side of the house or building, close-ups of problem spots, and the year built. Most jobs can be priced from that.
  2. A walkthrough if it needs one. Rot, heavy peeling, lead-era houses and commercial jobs get an in-person look on a scheduled trip day. You choose; both are free.
  3. A planned trip. The crew arrives with paint, primer and equipment for the whole job and works it through, so you are not waiting on half-days between other work.
  4. Walkthrough and warranty. We walk the finished work with you, and the 5-year workmanship warranty is in writing.

Paint supply is local too: there is a Sherwin-Williams store in Fort Morgan, which helps when a job needs more of a color mid-project. We paint with all major brands and name the exact product on your estimate.

Questions

Fort Morgan painting questions

Do you paint in Fort Morgan?

Yes. We paint homes, farmhouses, shops, metal buildings and small commercial buildings in Fort Morgan and around Morgan County, including Brush, Wiggins and Log Lane Village.

Fort Morgan is a long way from Brighton. How does scheduling work?

We group Morgan County work into planned trips, so a crew arrives with everything for the job and stays until it is done rather than driving back and forth. Estimates can be done from photos first, with an in-person look on a scheduled trip day.

Can you give me an estimate from photos?

Yes, and for most Fort Morgan jobs that is the quickest start. Send each side of the house or each room, close-ups of any peeling, and the year it was built. If the job needs a walkthrough, we set one up on a trip day. Both are free.

Do you paint barns, shops and metal buildings?

Yes. Steel buildings, pole barns, shops and older wood outbuildings, each with a primer and coating suited to the material, and often in the same trip as the house.

What does the plains weather do to paint out here?

Fort Morgan has a semi-arid climate with recorded extremes from minus 41°F to 109°F, so joints open and close hard over the year and sun-facing walls chalk early. Good caulk, two full coats and the right product for each surface matter more here than color does.

Is there a current offer?

Yes: 25% off labor on painting projects booked by December 31, 2026. Paint and materials are not included, and exterior work can be scheduled for spring.

Homes built before 1978 need lead-safe preparation; new builds have their own issues.
How would you like your free estimate?

Both are free and the choice is yours. Older homes, rot and color matching often go better in person; straightforward rooms are usually quicker from photos.
