How a painting job actually runs.
Six stages, what happens in each, and what we need from you. No surprises on the invoice, and nothing paid in full until you have walked the work.

A Painter Hotline project runs in six stages: you send photos or book a visit; we return a written estimate that lists every surface, its prep, the paint line, sheen and coat count; you choose colors, with HOA approval handled first where needed; a deposit holds your dates; the crew protects, repairs, prepares and paints; and you walk the finished job with us and point out anything to fix before the balance is due. The work then carries a written 5-year workmanship warranty.
The six stages
- First contact. Call, use the form or start a chat. Tell us the town, the year the house was built, what needs painting and whether a storm has been through. Photos help more than anything else: one per wall or room from far enough back to see it all, plus close-ups of problems.
- The estimate. Many jobs can be priced from photos. Storm damage, outbuildings, long fence runs and commercial work usually need a visit. Either way you get a written estimate, not a number on a card.
- Colors and approvals. We can paint sample patches on the actual walls, since colors shift a lot in plains sunlight. If you live in an HOA, the color request goes in before anything is scheduled.
- Booking. A deposit reserves your dates, and the deposit and balance are both written on the estimate. Interior dates are easiest to get from November through March; exterior calendars fill from late spring.
- The work. Protection first, then repairs and preparation, then primer and finish coats. Outside, we watch the wind and will move to a sheltered side or stop rather than spray in a gale. The site is cleaned up at the end of each day.
- The walkthrough. You walk every room or side of the house with us. Anything you flag gets fixed before the final payment. Your copy of the estimate and invoice records the exact paint used, which matters for any later warranty question.
What the written estimate shows
You should be able to hand our estimate to another painter and have them price the identical job. It lists:
| Item | Why it is there |
|---|---|
| Each surface, room or elevation | So nothing is assumed or left out |
| The prep for each one | Prep decides how long paint lasts; vague prep language is where disputes start |
| Paint brand, product line and sheen | So you can look up the product yourself |
| Number of coats, with primer listed separately | Coat count is the easiest thing to quietly cut |
| Hail or substrate findings, with photos | So repairs are agreed before they are found mid-job |
| Dates, deposit and balance | No payment surprises |
| Warranty terms | What is covered and what is not, in writing |
What we ask of you
- Clear small items, artwork and electronics from rooms being painted.
- For exteriors, turn off sprinklers a couple of days ahead, and move cars and anything stored against the house. The exterior prep checklist covers the rest.
- Keep pets inside or away from the work area.
- Tell us early about anything that has to keep running, from a home office to livestock.
If something goes wrong later
Call the same number you booked with. We inspect warranty concerns free of charge. If the problem comes from our prep or application, we fix it at no cost. If it comes from something else, such as a leaking gutter or new hail, we tell you what we see. The full terms are on the warranty page.
Process questions
Do you need to see my house in person?
Not always. Many interior and exterior jobs can be priced from good photos. Hail damage, outbuildings, long fences and commercial buildings usually need a visit.
How much is the deposit?
It is set per job and written on the estimate, along with the balance. The balance is due after the final walkthrough.
Do I need to be home while you paint?
For exteriors, usually not, as long as we can reach water and power. For interiors, someone needs to let the crew in or arrange access.
What happens if it rains or the wind picks up?
Exterior work stops or moves to a sheltered side. We let you know when a day has to shift rather than leaving you guessing.
Who do I talk to during the job?
One named contact for the whole project, reachable at 720-208-5645.

Tell us what needs painting and add a few photos if you can. Most projects around Brighton can be priced from photos and the year the house was built.
